Relay 109 Trouble

After having some trouble with my VW Golf the fault presenting its self as the oil press light coming on speed and Rev counter dieing and the engine or on other days the glow plug light after a short power lose. This only seemed to happen as the engine  was warming up on a cool day. I have a fault code reader tool so I look for any fault codes none present after 5 or six power loses. I had the old type relay 109 so I decided to change it. (After reading a lot about problems that it causes)

If you relay is like this it is an old version with a known history of failure.

If it is grey it is the new type

Zoom in a bit there is the problem a small fracture in the large solder joint you can just make out the circle

 

The thing is if you have a fault on your car change it, if you don't change it
